Annual Review: October 2023, presented by Sarah Fell, President of Leicester Ladies WI


Thanks to the committee for their support over the year;

Teressa as secretary, Tina as Treasurer and Gail & Julie for moral support.


November 2022

Inhouse craft – Tina led a session on cross-stitch, to make a Christmas card


December 2022

Group Christmas meal cancelled due to Covid restrictions!


January 2023

To get everyone moving after Christmas we invited Laraine T to give a talk and demonstration about Tai Chi.

I believe some members tried a few of the moves.


February

Exploits of a volunteer. Alison gave a very entertaining talk about her experiences as a driver at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.


March – an enlightening talk about Crystal healing from Pamela L. Complimentary therapist and teacher of crystal healing. Most members experienced a crystal spinning above their palm.


April - Polly gave an interesting talk about growing flowers sustainably for arrangements


May - Traveleyes: an inspiring talk about being a holiday guide for the visual impaired - the world through your eyes.


June – Life aboard the Royal Yatch Britannia was cancelled on the night, so we improvised with a quiz and social chat.


July - An excellent guided tour/treasure hunt within Leicester city centre. Some very interesting facts and sights


August

In house craft session, members made a felt daisy, some were more pleased with their result than others


September

An introduction to British sign Language by Daisy Edwards, the learning development and delivery coordinator for BSL for LCC


October 2023

Extras:

February: Pancake supper at Countesthorpe. Joint winners in pancake race !

March: Annual council meeting: speakers Ruth Goodman, TV historian & Eric Knowles, antique expert.

International Women’s Day, via zoom. I Attended Shearsby & Arnesby’s 90th birthday meal

April: Laura & I attended speakers showcase, 4 enthusiastic speakers gave a brief overview of their talk

May: NFWI annual meeting in Cardiff. Resolution past – ‘Clean rivers for people & wildlife’

May: several members attended Peatling Magna’s Beetle Drive

July: Several members attended the summer gathering hosted by Peatling Parva

September : Visit to the local farm

October: A team joined other WI’s for ‘taster session of petanque’
